Born on May 20, 1959, in Griffithstown, near Pontypool, Monmouthshire, Wales, Annabel Claire Giles was the eldest of three sisters. Her parents were John Giles, a retired army officer and businessman, and Claire Giles, a former nurse and housewife. She grew up alongside her sisters Jennifer and Catherine.

Education and Early Career:
At 16, Annabel was expelled from boarding school for attending a concert featuring Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel in Bristol, where she was seen smoking in the street. Between 1977 and 1982, she worked as a secretary, mainly in advertising agencies.

Modeling Career:
Annabel’s entrance into modeling was unexpected. While attending a shoot for Boots No. 7 cosmetics, royal make-up artist Barbara Daly suggested taking a shot of her. This shot became part of the campaign, leading to her signing with top agency Models 1 and becoming the official model for Max Factor.
