Arthur Cooke Died After He Got Attacked By East Harlem Group
On Wednesday, police said that the death of a 45-year-old man in East Harlem had been ruled a homicide. The victim had been surrounded by 30 people who were driving all-terrain vehicles and had been attacked by the gang.
On November 4th, a group of people on dirtbikes and ATVs allegedly blocked the road in front of Arthur Cooke as he drove along East 125th Street. Authorities say Cooke pulled over to check the damage after one of the suspects broke his passenger side mirror. When they got outside, others of the group allegedly attacked Cooke and threatened him with a gun.
Police informed PIX11 News that after the incident, while the victim was on the ground, someone stole the victim’s car. Police have stated that they do not think the car-jacking suspect was among the group riding the ATVs and dirt bikes.
A rescue crew took the injured person to NYC Health & Hospitals Harlem. According to the authorities, Cooke succumbed to his wounds on Friday.
Up until Wednesday morning, police had made no arrests. A description of any possible perpetrators has not been released by police.
