Clayton Tierney Passes Away After Being Shot in the head in Pittsburgh’s Beechview

A 17-year-old boy died following a shooting in Pittsburgh’s Beechview neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting happened on the 1700 block of Broadway Avenue.

Pittsburgh Public Safety said the victim, a 17-year-old boy, was found with a gunshot to the head and was then taken to the hospital in critical condition.

On Thursday morning, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office said the boy, identified as Clayton Tierney, of Pittsburgh, died at the hospital several hours later.

“I’m not sure why it happened. I’ve known this family for 25 years. They are very quiet. There’s nothing that goes on over at their house, so it’s very scary, because why did that happen to him?” a neighbor, Karen, said. “So young, just a baby, 17.”

Other people were inside the home at the time and were interviewed by police.

“My heart is broken for them. Like I said, we’ve lived by each other. We’ve been here 36 years. They’ve been there at least 25 years. I know the mom really well. She’s a good person. My heart is broken for her. There’s just no sense to this,” Karen said.

No persons of interest have been identified at this time.

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 has learned a 22-year-old man who says he’s the brother of Clayton Tierney is facing charges in a separate incident.

About 20 minutes after the Beechview shooting, police received a report of a man trespassing on a port authority rail station.

Police said Emmanuel Tierney told them he was trying to get to Beechview because his brother had been shot.

Police asked for his ID to deal with the trespassing issue then offered to take him to Beechview. That’s when Tierney allegedly ran off in the opposite direction of Beechview.

Police caught up with him and found he had two rounds of live ammunition in his backpack and that he tossed a pistol during the foot chase.

Tierney is facing several trespassing and firearm charges.
