Why does Daryl go along with Rick?
Daryl doesn’t like the idea of handing Michonne over, but he goes along with it because Rick is the leader. He tries to make peace with Glenn on behalf of Merle, but Glenn doesn’t go for it. When they can’t find Merle or Michonne, Daryl goes to track them down. He eventually finds his brother, but as a zombie.
Now a full member of the team, Daryl saves T-Dog when a herd of zombies swarms around the team on an abandoned highway. Daryl is also the one who’s still actively searching for Sophia, using his past experience of getting lost in the woods to help him believe that she could be alive.
He also tells Rick that Rick has always been capable of being the leader even if he doesn’t see it. Daryl tells Michonne he would be searching for the Governor as well if he thought they could actually find him. When Bob almost dies over a bottle of alcohol, Daryl is tempted to just leave him there. After being told about Carol by Rick, Daryl doesn’t really understand what to think of it.
