Dr. Charles Crutchfield Dies of Cancer, Doctor and owner of Crutchfield Dermatology
Charles E. Crutchfield III, MD, a well-known dermatologist in Minnesota, died on June 21 in the early hours following a protracted fight with cancer. Age-wise, he was 62.
We express our condolences to his family, numerous friends, coworkers, and patients as we lament the passing of this kind and giving guy.
Dr. Crutchfield comes from a distinguished family of physicians, and he made numerous contributions to the community through both his professional practice and his numerous volunteer endeavors. He was a clinical dermatology professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School, a board-certified dermatologist, and a Benedict Distinguished Visiting Professor of Biology at Carleton College.
In Eagan, Minnesota, he also ran a private clinic called Crutchfield Dermatology.
The Mayo Clinic is where Dr. Crutchfield earned both his medical degree and his master’s in molecular biology and genomics. Black Enterprise magazine named him one of the top ten dermatologists in the United States. Dr. Crutchfield was named one of Minnesota Medicine’s 100 Most Influential Healthcare Leaders.

Dr. Crutchfield served as the team dermatologist for the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, Timberwolves, Wild, and Lynx. He was also the president of the Minnesota Association of Black Physicians and an active member of the American and National Medical Associations.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to the deceased’s family and friends, who have been struggling with the loss of such an intelligent and compassionate individual.
