Early on the morning of June 25, 2016, John Drilling passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of his home in Greendale.John worked at WITI for the duration of his 31 years there, and for the vast majority of those years, he was the anchor of the midday program. John’s tenure at WITI lasted for a total of 31 years.

He worked as a reporter in the traditional sense much before anyone else had ever heard of or used the term “old school.” Because he had made the decision to make Milwaukee his home, the city had a very special meaning for him. John devoted a significant amount of his time and energy to a wide range of organizations and activities.

The most important of which were his family, the Milwaukee Brewers, and auto racing. John also was an avid fan of the sport of motor racing. He was 86 years old when he passed away, and prostate cancer was the cause of his death. When he went away, he had been ill for a long time.
