Sadly, his daughter Monica has confirmed that Upright passed away early on Thursday morning.

Upright has a reputation for giving news in a measured, calm manner.

Although his affection for the Midlands’ residents and meticulous attention to detail will be missed, his legacy will endure.

The age of Gene Upright was 91.
