GoFundMe; Adam Platania Dies in a Traffic Collision Derry NH Motorcycle Accident
Police have identified the victims of a multiple vehicle accident that occurred on Thursday evening in Derry. The accident involved two motorcycles and a sedan.
The driver of one motorcycle, Adam Platania, 21, and his passenger, Katina Skotis, 20, both from Litchfield, died as a result of their injuries.
On Friday afternoon, police released the names of everyone involved in the accident. According to Platania’s Facebook page, he was a motorcycle enthusiast who operated a small business out of his home, personalizing apparel for customers.
He was developing his own brand called King2Gods, which featured flame-like symbols on the vertical, similar to an exhaust pipe.
Reaction to the Tragedy
Following the accident, a GoFundMe page was set up for Platania, which had raised $12,000 by early Friday afternoon. His aunt, Sara Brown, expressed her sadness on Facebook, saying, “This loss is unreal and is something we could never have imagined. We are beyond heartbroken.”
Details of the Accident
The accident occurred at the intersection of North Main Street (Route 28 Bypass) and Nesmith Street at 6:37 p.m. on Thursday.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found two motorcycles lying in the roadway and a heavily damaged car at the intersection. Platania was pronounced dead at the scene, while Skotis was rushed to Elliott Hospital in Manchester but was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
Other People Involved in the Accident The driver of the second motorcycle, John Bayrd, 22, and his passenger, Michaela Bayrd, 21, both from Manchester, were taken to Elliot Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The driver of the sedan, Joanna Taylor, 76, from Derry, was taken to Parkland Medical Center for treatment of a medical issue.
Cause of the Accident
According to the police, the two motorcycles were traveling with a larger group northbound on North Main Street, while the car was entering North Main Street from Pinkerton Street.
However, the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.
