Every entry in the series is its own self-contained adventure. Yet, the first few games are still connected in some form. Before the Storm serves as a prequel to the original, while Captain Spirit crosses over with Life Is Strange 2. Even the second numbered game makes several references to what occurred in the first.
This is a game that has nothing in common with the original and it is all the worse for it. Life is Strange 2 feels like just another choice based game with forgettable protagonists and a forgettable cast. Life is Strange 1 was special. It affected me in a way no other piece of media really has.
You can jump into Life Is Strange: True Colors without having played any of the other Life Is Strange games without issue. The reason for this is because each game in the series is its own unique story.
If you didn’t go through that, then you don’t really understand why Life is Strange was popular in the first place. It wasn’t because it was another choice based game like Life is Strange 2. It wasn’t because of some generic “bonds between people” or “stories about real people with superpowers” It was because we connected with those characters.
What town does Life is Strange 2 take place in?
In the very beginning of Life is Strange 2, you are asked if you decided to sacrifice Arcadia Bay, the town that the original LIS took place in.
It only cares about the final decision in LiS1, though. So it doesn’t need any more data than that
