The president and CEO of CUES, John Pembroke, passed away.

John, a forward-thinking and motivating leader, used a variety of business talents, relationship-building know-how, and leadership qualities to promote organizational growth and financial success at the membership association, according to a statement from CUES. “Under his direction, CUES membership tripled, member retention rose, and fresh, cutting-edge services for talent development were developed. He supported and encouraged the staff at CUES as a mentor and proponent of a people-first mindset, guiding the group to realize both its individual and group potential. He strived to make CUES a thought leader in the industry and prioritized diversity, equity, and inclusion across the board.”

Change is the only constant in life, according to CUES, who also highlighted that Mr. Pembroke “lived by that maxim, continuously embracing opportunities to improve himself, his life, and the lives of others.”

According to Kelly Marshall, CUES board chair and CEO of Summerland Credit Union, John was an inspirational, considerate, and kind leader as well as a terrific friend. John has bravely battled health issues for a while, and he will be sorely missed on both a professional and a personal level.

According to CUES, Mr. Pembroke is survived by Monica, his wife of 27 years, and other close family members. Service information is being worked on and will be released. No specific reason of death has been given.
