Jordan Love was born in Bakersfield, California on November 2, 1998. At the age of 14, Love’s father, Orbin committed suicide. Love attended Liberty High School. As a senior, he passed for 2,148 yards and 24 touchdowns and rushed for 806 yards with eight touchdowns. After being told he could not play quarterback as a freshman, Love was named the starter by his senior year. He committed to play college football at Utah State University.
Love redshirted his first year at Utah State in 2016. As a redshirt freshman in 2017, he played in 12 games and started the final six. He finished the season, completing 129 of 235 passes for 1,631 yards, eight touchdowns, and six interceptions.
As a sophomore in 2018, Love started all 13 games, completing 267 of 417 passes for a school season record 3,567 yards with 32 touchdowns and six interceptions. He was named the MVP of the 2018 New Mexico Bowl after passing for 359 yards and four touchdowns. Following the season’s end, Love announced that he would forgo his senior year by declaring for the 2020 NFL Draft.

“He’s a good kid … just green,” one NFC executive said of him, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com.
Fowler called the New England Patriots’ No. 23 overall pick “a crucial spot” when it comes to Love, noting the team has “done a lot of homework on the quarterback landscape” and could choose him.
“If Love becomes available to New England and it passes—No. 23 might be too rich, and it has needs elsewhere—the notion of teams with picks in the early second round jumping the line to get Love comes into play,” Fowler wrote while pointing to the New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers, Washington, Carolina Panthers and Miami Dolphins as other teams that have looked into him.
One executive went as far as to suggest to Fowler that Love could be picked in the top 10 during Thursday’s opening round, underscoring the annual tradition of teams taking risks in an effort to find their franchise quarterback on draft day.
Seeing how Love played at Utah State instead of a traditional powerhouse, he is not a household name like other signal-callers in this draft.
