Kevin Byard was born on August 16, 1994, in McMinnville, Tennessee. He attended McMinnville High School, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He was a standout athlete in all three sports, but it was football where he truly excelled.
In 2013, Byard accepted a football scholarship to Middle Tennessee State University. He played in all 12 games as a true freshman, recording 48 tackles and two interceptions. He started all 12 games in his sophomore season, recording 102 tackles, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery.
Byard’s junior season was even more impressive, as he recorded 115 tackles, four interceptions, and a forced fumble. He was named first-team All-Conference USA and was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, which is given to the nation’s best defensive back.

Byard was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He quickly made an impact on the Titans’ defense, starting all 16 games as a rookie and recording 89 tackles, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery. He was named to the Pro Bowl in each of his first five seasons, and he was also named first-team All-Pro in 2017.
