He started his career as a player in The Braves and then joined The Los Angeles Dodgers from 1976 to 1983. In 1984 played for the San Francisco Giants and in 1885 he joined Oakland Athletics.
After certain years of playing he got retired as a player on October 4, 1986. He then joined as manager of the San Franscisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, Cincinati Reds, and Washing Nationals. From 2020 he is serving as a manager in The Astros.
Baker also serves as a member of the National Advisory Board for Positive Coatching Alliance( a national non-profit organization committed to providing student-athletes with a positive, character-building youth sports experience). Dusty also owns Baker Family Wines.
