Michael Mitchell Murder : Michael Mitchell Dies, Louisiana,
Michael Mitchell, the main suspect in the armed robbery and shooting death of Michael Robinson, a graduating senior at Grambling State University, in July 2020, has a date for his trial set.
The 4th Judicial District Court has set August 29 as the start date for the trial. In an intriguing turn of events, Mitchell has opted to forego his right to a traditional jury trial in favour of having a judge hear his case.
Robinson, who was tragically discovered dead in the trunk of his black Chevrolet Camaro, was charged with second-degree murder in the indictment against Mitchell. The specifics of the incident, Mitchell’s detention, and the subsequent court actions will all be covered in this page.
On July 29, 2020, Louisiana State Troopers saw Robinson’s car travelling at a high rate of speed in Franklin Parish on Louisiana Highway 17. The troopers conducted a traffic stop after becoming concerned about the driver, Michael Mitchell, and spoke with him. The troopers noticed Mitchell was emitting a marijuana odour as they were interacting.
The affidavit states that Mitchell admitted to using marijuana. The scenario, however, took a dark turn when Robinson’s dead body was found in the trunk of the car after a subsequent search.
