Obituary | James Blaauboer Cause of Death

James Blaauboer passed away on Saturday morning, according to a letter from Notre Dame addressed to students and employees. He was an American Army veteran and a sophomore at the college of Arts and Letters.

His death has no recognized reason.

Jake was a Shenendehowa High School alum. At the time of his passing, he was a student at the University of Notre Dame and Hudson Valley Community College. He had served in the US Army and had previously worked as a welder.
Jake was a competitive athlete who regularly ran for the school’s cross country and track teams. He pushed himself by ascents of Pikes Peak in Colorado, Mount Washington in New Hampshire, and several Adirondack high peaks. He was an insightful debater who enjoyed talking about philosophical and political topics. He loved listening to all kinds of music and reading. Jake was a lovely old guy, and we shall cherish his memories.

On Wednesday, November 16, at 5:15 p.m., a Mass of Remembrance was performed in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the campus of Notre Dame.

Visitors are welcome and may call at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park, New York, on Friday, November 18, from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m.
Following, at 12 p.m., is a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Edward the Confessor Church. The Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home website’s Jake’s Book of Memories will stream the services live.
At 2:30 pm, Jake’s funeral services will come to a close at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, New York.
