Obituary | Mark Utley Died in a Charles County car crash
Mark Utley died in a motorbike accident on Wednesday.
At around 4:34 in the afternoon, Georgian Mark Utley, 25, passed away from his injuries at the Medical University of South Carolina.
According to sheriff’s office spokesperson Andrew Knapp, the collision occurred about 3:20 pm close to the 6100 block of Savannah Highway.
The collision caused the southbound lane of the highway to be closed; however, just after 5:30 p.m., one lane was reopened.
According to the sheriff’s office’s preliminary investigation, Utley was riding a motorbike north while passing other vehicles in the median when his vehicle collided with a Chevrolet SUV that was turning into the highway from the south, Knapp said.
According to authorities, the motorbike then struck a southbound Ford pickup.
The Utley, according to deputies, wore a helmet.
The investigation is currently ongoing at the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
