Layla Lacosta Laseter was born on June 25, 1999, to Jerry Laseter and Tanya Tucker. her middle name, Lacosta, is a tribute to Tucker’s sister La Costa. Tanya postponed her engagement to Jerry as she was pregnant with Layla at the time. 

Layla’s parents never married as Tanya accused her then-fiancee of domestic violence. Due to her parents’ separation, there was a lengthy custody battle, things boiled over and Tucker filed for a restraining order against him. 

Jerry Laseter Stole From Tanya 

Laseter and his reported girlfriend at the time Chrislynn Jones stole around $500,000 worth of wardrobe and jewelry from Tanya. The possessions were taken from her tour caravan by Jones as she was one of her backup singers at the time. 

The incident was reported by the Las Vegas Sun. According to the same source, Laseter frover a U-Haul truck with the goods inside and left the entourage that was following Tanya, he even demanded gas money as per reports. 

When the truck was eventually recovered, there was only a barrel inside with a note

Both the suspe3cts were charged with felony theft but were later released on $3000 bail.
