The rise and fall of Ghana’s Dominic Adiyah – A Sad Story
Once upon a time, a young personality in the person of Dominic Adiyiah, shot into the limelight in the football world in 2009, poached by AC Milan afterwards but failed to register an appearance at the club. Now the question is, WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?
Today, follow us as we look into what really happened to our own Dominic Adiyah football journey.
Born on 29 November 1989, Adiyiah began his football career at Feyenoord Ghana. After spending several years in Gomoa Fetteh, he was transferred to Heart of Lions in 2007. He made his debut in the Ghana Premier League with the club based in Kpando, at the end of the 2007–08 season he was named Most Exciting Player of the league.

The young striker made the headlines at the Under-20 World Cup in Egypt 2009.
Adiyah was the main architect in the Black Satellites team that became the first African country to win the Fifa junior world tournament since its inception.
A defining moment came when the then Brazilian coach of AC Milan “Leonardo De Araujo, was hunting for the next biggest thing in world football paid 1.4 million Euros for the services of the young Ghanaian striker.
Now, All-eyes on Adiyah, the whole world hoping that he will reach the status attained by other past winners of the world U20 championship best players.
“For me I must say it was a big mistake, signing for Ac Milan, but as a youngster when a big team like Milan needs you cannot say no” Adiyah told Oti Adjei.
Well, it’s true, Signing for AC Milan did him more harm than good because from the on set, the signs were clear that the bench was going to be his permanent abode as Milan had more tried and well established forwards like then Alexandra Pato,Fillipo Inzaghi, Robinho and they later on brought in Antonio Casano, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

From Milan, after making Zero (0) appearances for the Italian side, Adiyah was loaned to ‘Reggina (Serbia) and after half season, he moved to a rival club Partizan (Serbia) in the 2010/11 season on loan, and to Karşıyaka (Turkey) the next season. The Ghanaian international made 27 appearances in all the three mentioned clubs and scored 1 goal.
Adiyiah evaporated into thin air like hot water as even in Ukrainian league where he plays for Arsenal Kiev. In his three seasons at Arsenal Kiev, Adiyah played 39 games and scored only 7 goals.

Dominic Adiyiah signed for Kazakhstani Premier League side FC Atyrau
Adiyiah had been inactive since leaving Ukrainian side Arsenal Kiev in 2013. He had trials at Swedish side Malmo FF but failed to land a deal at the club.
The former Heart of Lions striker was tipped for greater things in the future after winning the Golden Shoe Award at the 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup but failed to reach his potentials as expected.
Thai lower-tier side “Sisaket Football Club” signed Dominic Adiyah as a free agent after 3 years at Nakhon Ratchasima.
Dominic, the 29 years played 96 games and found the net 19 times for the Thai premier league side between 2015-2018.
His contract was terminated by Nakhon Ratchasima due to poor form in 2018.
The Golden Boot award winner at the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt as well was the most valuable player in a tournament now is at Sizaket.
