Scott, 55, has been a mainstay at ESPN for the past two decades, having joined the network in 2001.
Along with his anchoring duties, he has presented various radio shows. “I’m disappointed to miss one of my favorite shows of the year,” he remarked.
Since 2015, Van Pelt has hosted a late-edition show called “SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt,” which features highlights and discussion.

Van Pelt stated on Twitter that his “heart went a little out of wack” and that he was transferred to a Bethesda, Maryland, hospital on Monday afternoon.
After Georgia defeated Alabama to win its first national championship since 1980, John Anderson and Michael Eaves took over as hosts of the postgame show.

Scott Van Pelt works as an ESPN sportscaster. However, he did not appear in the Monday night broadcast of “SportsCenter.”
