What nationality is Joe Riggs?

The current member of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship is American professional bare-knuckle fighter and former mixed martial artist Joseph Jonathan Riggs (born September 23, 1982).

Since becoming pro in 2001, Riggs has fought professionally for the UFC, WEC, Strikeforce, Bellator, ProElite, M-1 Global, and King of the Cage. The previous WEC Middleweight Champion is Riggs.

Riggs started boxing as a youngster with his father. He was born in Sanford, Maine, and reared in Phoenix, Arizona.

While Riggs is right-handed, his boxing instructor advised him to fight southpaw, which would make his dominant hand his left. In Glendale, Arizona’s Cactus High School, Riggs started wrestling.

In Arizona’s Glendale Community College, where he pursued a degree in Criminal Justice, he emulated his idol, Randy Couture, by twice being named an All-American. Riggs received instruction from the Lally brothers at Arizona Combat Sports, John Crouch at MMA Lab, and Scott Tannenbaum at TNT Training Center.
