Who Was Emilia Schoennagel? How Did She Die?

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of our Trustee Patrick Schoennagel.

His beloved daughter Emilia died Saturday, September 24 at the age of 5, following a sudden and unexpected medical incident. After a few days in St Mary’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, she left the material world peacefully in the arms of her parents.

Leah, known fondly by her family and friends, is left behind by Patrick, his wife Melissa, their eight-year-old brother John, and dozens of friends and family around the world.

Leah was born just over a year after her parents’ worst tragedy to date – the stillbirth of her brother Christopher. Since her safe birth, she has brought infinite joy, laughter and love to the world. She’s kind, sensitive, playful, smart, adventurous, funky, artistic, fierce, and her eyes sparkle with the kind of light only someone who truly loves life and all it has to offer.

We will always remember Leah, she will always be at the heart of this charity and we will continue to save and change children’s lives on her behalf.
