In Philadelphia The juvenile victim in one of Philadelphia’s most infamous cold cases has been identified by police.

A child’s naked and severely battered body was discovered in a forested area of Philadelphia’s Fox Chase neighborhood in February 1957. Authorities claim that the youngster, who was wrapped in a blanket and placed inside a bassinet box, was between the ages of four and six. The boy, according to the police, was underweight and showed physical signs of both recent and old trauma.

Police posted a flyer with the boy’s picture all throughout the city as they looked for a suspect. Thousands of leads were explored by detectives around the nation, but until recently, authorities were unable to identify the kid.

Officials hinted at a big case update last week. In order to reveal fresh information about the case, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw, Philadelphia Police Department forensic scientists, Philadelphia Police Department homicide detectives, representatives from the Medical Examiner’s Office, archeologists, and Vidocq Society investigators held a press conference on Thursday.

Outlaw claimed that the identification of the child, whose name was unknown for nearly 66 years, was made possible by science and technology.

Genealogists were able to locate family members from the child’s maternal side of the family, according to Captain Jason Smith. Authorities were able to identify the child’s birth father after additional investigation and testing.

Out of respect for the boy’s living siblings, the police say they will not at this time disclose the child’s parents’ names.
