He was born in Clevedon, North Somerset, and is best known as a former singer of the boy band ‘Union J.’ He was also part of the English band ‘Only the Young.’ He decided to quit the band when he auditioned for the ninth season of ‘The X Factor.’ However, he was eliminated in the bootcamp stage, along with a band named ‘Triple J,’ but was called back when another band, ‘Rough Copy,’ was forced to leave the show due to visa issues. ‘Union J’ did not win the show but earned the ‘BBC Radio 1 Teen’ award for the ‘Best British Breakthrough.’ He belongs to a family with a strong musical background. His grandfather was part of a music band, and his brother is a drummer. In 2016, he released his debut EP, ‘Originals,’ which consisted of six songs. He also made his acting debut after appearing in the fourth episode of the second series of the British sitcom ‘Murder in Successville.’ Shelley opened up about being gay in a video he posted on ‘Instagram’ in February 2016.
