Lance Ito Wife: Is He Married?

Lance Ito was formerly married to Margaret York.

His wife was a former police officer whom many considered a trailblazer in the Los Angeles Police Force. Further, she was the inspiration for the American police procedural drama television series Cagney & Lacey.

Margaret, born on 4 August 1941, died on 17 October 2021, at the age of 80. She and Lance married in the year 1981. The death took them apart after 40 years together. The couple didn’t have any children, but Margaret had three from a previous marriage.

Speaking about Margaret, she began her career as the radio operator at L.A.P.D. in 1965. After that, she became an officer in 1968 and worked for 24 years till she got promoted to Lieutenant in 1992. The same year, she became a Commander, and eight years later, she rose to the rank of Deputy Chief, becoming the first woman to achieve the milestone.

She and another officer, Helen Kidder, were partners in the 1970s within the homicide department. What’s interesting is that they had the highest confessions rate of any other team. 

Besides the policing work, York used to engage in philanthropic works, especially with the Salvation Army.

However, the former judge himself hasn’t disclosed it publically. Nonetheless, the estimate is within the boundary of possibilities, especially considering that he spent almost three decades in the office.
