Toby Blount I detest having to write this article. A few months ago, when you surprised me at one of my games, I last saw you. I don’t even recall if it was a win or a loss; all I remember is that you told me to be proud of what I’m accomplishing and what I’ve assisted our team with. You swiftly reminded me of how horrible things were when we took over a few years ago, but you quickly turned around to reassure me that things appeared to be going in the right direction.

I got so busy over the last few years that I didn’t check in on you as often as I should have and I didn’t reach out as often as I should have.

I tried my best to extend the year’s invitation for Thanksgiving and made sure to wish you a happy birthday.

I ought to have told you how happy I was for you, too, man. You taught me to never be satisfied by balancing your day job with beginning your catering business and just getting yourself where you wanted to be. You were constantly aiming for greater and better things. I wish you could have experienced those efforts’ full rewards.

I wish everyone would have taken the time to sit down with you and listen because you were such an amazing person with an amazing story. You were a really smart guy once you got over your love for the Cowboys. I have lots of wise counsel.

You will be sorely missed by my wife, my children, and I. Just last month, when Mom inquired about you, I told her I hoped we would have you back at the house for Thanksgiving. I’ll make sure to save one for you.

I adore you, Mar, and wish I had told you sooner.
