Born on December 5, 1949, Pamela Blair was a multifaceted American entertainer. She was an actress, singer and dancer.

Despite her several talents, she is best known for originating the role of Val in the musical A Chorus Line.

She had ‘Val role’ after being invited by Michael Bennett to participate in the workshops which birthed A Chorus Line.

The character “Valerie Clark”, shortened Val, which she played was largely based on her own life.

Val, despite her innocent looks had a very foul mouth and introduced the popular Broadway song “Dance: 10; Looks:3” which tells the story of an undesirable yet talented lady who uses plastic surgery to get movie roles.

Along with the cast, Blair won the 1976 Theatre World Award for their impressive performance.

Blair also starred in several American soap operas, including Loving, Another World, Ryan’s Hope and All My Children.

She received a Daytime Emmy nomination for All My Children.

She also guest starred on popular shows such as Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Nights of Molly Dodd, Law & Order and the Cosby Show.

Blair passed away in July 2023 at the age of 73 in Phoenix.
