Serena Williams was born to on September 26, 1981, in Saginaw, Michigan to Oracene Price and Richard Williams. Both of her parents are tennis coaches.

From her mother’s side, she has four sisters of which she is the youngest. Her older half-sisters are Yetunde, Lyndrea, Isha Price, and of course Venus.

Yetunde Hawanya Tara Price was the oldest half-sister of the tennis star.

In addition to working as a nurse, she was also the personal assistant of her sisters, Venus and Serena, and owned a hair salon.

On the night of September 14, 2003, she was murdered in a shooting in Compton, California. She was parked outside what subsequently was revealed to be a crack house.

Two members of the Southside Compton Crips street gang, who were guarding the house, opened fire on the SUV. Their belief was, that they were defending the crack house from gangland rivals.
