Tory Lanez (born Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson on July 27, 1992) is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer.

He first gained attention with the release of the mixtape Conflicts of My Soul: The 416 Story in August 2013. Tory Lanez signed with record producer Benny Blanco’s Mad Love Records via Interscope Records in 2015.

Lanez’s debut studio album, I Told You (2016), featured the singles “Say It” and “Luv,” which charted at number 23 and 19, respectively, on the Billboard Hot 100. Lanez’s second and third studio albums, Memories Don’t Die and Love Me Now?, were released in 2018. Chixtape 5 (2019), his fourth studio album, debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200.
